YSR Padhayathra
The Padayatra undertaken by YSR in 2003 as the Congress Legislature Party(CLP) leader has been hailed as historic by several politicians and journalists.
As an opposition leader YSR started 60-day long padayatra from Chevella to Ichapuram on April 09 2003 to highlight the plight of farmers and rural population across the state. YSR’s padayatra was aimed at infusing confidence among the people facing adverse conditions.
"The padayatra brought about a total change in me. I learnt many lessons through this. I came to understand the problems of various sections of society. I observed the lifestyles and livelihoods of the people, which inspired me to do something for the oppressed and needy people," – YSR
